Happy February! Normally I find February to be quite dreary and it’s that time of year when I am really over winter, despite being a solid member of team winter. This year is an anomaly though, because February in Edmonton has been amazing! We have had lots of warm temperatures and no snow, so it feels a lot like spring and that has really helped to get me out of my winter slump. Of course, February also means Valentine’s Day and talking about love… which brings me to this month’s Topbox and some new loves for me!
I have been really good about trying to maintain a strict budget to start off 2016, especially as I try to get into graduate school (again) for the Fall term, so I haven’t been receiving any packages in the mail, which makes me a sad panda. I get so much joy out of having packages come to my door and the rush of packages coming over the holidays really made the slow January period feel extra depressing. Luckily my topbox arrived just in time to get me out of my funk. 🙂
Happy New Year! Is there a point when it is absolutely just unacceptable to say Happy New Year, especially when you’re trying to wrap up the previous year? I will admit that the holiday season completely wiped me out – it was one of the most social months that I can remember and it just bled into exhaustion for January. I have toned things down significantly for January but that also means lacking all motivation to turn on my computer. So as I try to get my groove back, let’s chat about the November and December Topboxes.
For me, mid-fall always means hitting up the Edmonton Rocky Mountain Wine and Food Festival! I have attended for the past few years now and still like going to hang out with friends while being surrounded by wine and food, especially Papa Chocolat’s handmade chocolates. This year’s event will be taking place on November 6-7 at the Shaw Conference Centre.
I just recently received an email saying that my March Topbox has been shipped and I realized that I didn’t tell y’all about January and February! January certainly started off with a bang since I received a package tucked into a Canada Post baggie saying that my package was damaged (as evidenced by the dripping pink liquid all over everything). Before opening the package inside, I carefully rinsed it off in my sink (thank goodness for stainless steel sinks!) and tried to stop it from staining anything. Once opened, it was very clear that somehow the MeMeME Cosmetics Cheek and Lip Tint had broken and every single drop of tint had spilled out. Everything inside was also pretty pink but luckily, it was relatively easy to rinse off. I posted the photo of my broken product on instagram and within 20 minutes, Topbox had responded telling me to email them about a replacement product – talk about excellent customer service! So for January we only have 3 products but the replacement did come with the February box so life is good.
