Topbox Review: July – September 2016

I know… it’s been forever since I’ve produced a blog post and I was originally thinking I would be able to catch up on some while I was on vacation. Anyone who tells you they are super productive using their plane time is (in my opinion) incredibly impressive! So, obviously I failed on that front, but as my next Topbox is due soon – I feel it’s only good form to get back to my Topbox reviews… starting from a year ago. ūüėģ

Here is also the moment where I own up to the fact that y’all are mainly getting more of a photo log than true review since I can’t recall a lot of how I felt about products unless they were something I really loved or something I did not like at all.

July’s Topbox included:

July’s box is really nice but not made for me. As we have previously established, I am terrible with lip makeup, so the Bellapierre lip liner and BareMinerals lip gloss were not for me, so I didn’t bother testing those and ended up donating it when I attempted to do the minimalism game (procrastination habits strike again and I only got half way through). I did really like the Revlon hair treatment a lot as it performed better than I expected. My hair was really soft and smooth after using it and the coconut scent was quite light and of course, reminded me of summer and beaches, which was helpful when I used it in winter. I liked the Clinique eye cream as well, especially for those days after a late night working on projects. It was hydrating and I feel like my eyes did look less tired after using it. I have heard so many good things about St. Tropez and I thought it lived up to expectations. I don’t love the idea of tanning very much, but I did find this help make my legs look way less pale without having to sit in the sun, which is always nice.

August’s Topbox included:

Again, August was not a terrible box, especially consider that there were two full size products included, but I only ended up using two of the four. I passed the Novex hair mask on to a friend who loves to use them and ended up donating the Manna Kadar bronzer and highlighter duo. I have nothing against either product, but there are just things that I don’t use. Highlighting and contouring etc. are decidedly not in my wheelhouse and I definitely don’t have the patience in the morning to make all that happen. I have the same issue with hair masks – my lack of patience with giving things time to work means if I can’t multi-task while doing it, I am not going to spend the time doing it. I do love makeup primers, so the Smashbox primer was great for me, and the travel size was handy when I went on vacation recently. I like that it gave me a nice matte and even surface to apply my foundation on. Saving the best for last, the Dr. Roebuck’s moisturizer was my favorite product. I love that it is a more natural product and it kept my face hydrated throughout a very dry winter. It’s fairly thick, so I used it at night instead of during the day. My jar lasted for quite awhile, so really a little bit goes a long way.

September’s Topbox included:

Bonus Unilever Box included:

  • Dove Deep Moisture Body Wash (53ml)
  • Degree Fresh Energy Dry Spray (107g)
  • Nexxus Therappe Shampoo (89ml)
  • Nexxus Humectress Conditioner (89ml)
  • Nexxus Comb Through Finishing Mist Hairspray (43g)
  • Simple Facial Cleansing Wipes (7 wipes)
  • St. Ives Fresh Skin Apricot Scrub (30ml)
  • TRESemm√© Tres Two Hair Spray (43g)
  • Vaseline Dry Skin Repair Lotion (100ml)
  • Vaseline Lip Therapy Original (17g)

September was a massive box as I also received a bonus uniliver box along with my usual box. I know that I used a lot of the items in both boxes, but as it’s been a year, I don’t have any reflections on them, which means it was not amazing but also not terrible? The only one I know I really liked was the Delectable everything balm – it was a great multi-use product, although I did tend to use it on my hands and cuticles more than anything else.

So What Would Argenplath Pay?

The cost of the boxes were all $12.60 and the total value of each box was definitely more than what I paid, but when I didn’t use everything inside, the value is lower for me. Since I was able to find a home for anything I didn’t use, I am not too concerned that what I used was less than what I paid.
