I just recently received an email saying that my March Topbox has been shipped and I realized that I didn’t tell y’all about January and February! January certainly started off with a bang since I received a package tucked into a Canada Post baggie saying that my package was damaged (as evidenced by the dripping pink liquid all over everything). Before opening the package inside, I carefully rinsed it off in my sink (thank goodness for stainless steel sinks!) and tried to stop it from staining anything. Once opened, it was very clear that somehow the MeMeME Cosmetics Cheek and Lip Tint had broken and every single drop of tint had spilled out. Everything inside was also pretty pink but luckily, it was relatively easy to rinse off. I posted the photo of my broken product on instagram and within 20 minutes, Topbox had responded telling me to email them about a replacement product – talk about excellent customer service! So for January we only have 3 products but the replacement did come with the February box so life is good.
January Topbox Included:
- Lise Watier Lift & Firm 3D Duo Serum 24 Hours (2 x 3ml)
- Elizabeth Arden Flawless Future Powered by Ceramide Moisture Cream Broad Spectrum Sunscreen SPF 30 (7ml)
- Eyeko Mascara Off Eye Makeup Remover Wipes (Full Size – 10 wipes)
- MeMeMe Cosmetics Cherub Blush Cheek and Lip Tint (Full Size – 12ml – damaged in transit)
I found this Topbox to be quite interesting and everything in the box is definitely up my alley. I don’t know that I have seen the level of results that the Lise Watier Serum is saying I should be seeing but that may just be that I haven’t been using it long enough? Of course I am tapped out of the sample so I will need to buy the product before I can confirm whether or not it lives up to all its promises. The Elizabeth Arden Moisture Cream is definitely going to be moving into my face cream rotation but it will be a travel bag item since I am quickly running of small sizes for my carry-on/go bag. I do like that it has SPF built in because I take sun safety very seriously and the more I can protect myself from damaging sun rays, the happier I am. The Eyeko Eye Makeup Wipes will also be joining the Elizabeth Arden Moisture Cream in the go bag – wipes have really found a home with all my travel stuff since I am trying to bring less liquids with me as I travel. As mentioned above the MeMeMe Cheek and Lip Tint broke, but I wonder if it is similar to the Benefit cheek stains as I looked quite similar – maybe I will eventually get around to buying a bottle and testing it out?
February’s Topbox included:
- Eyeko Hydrogel Eye Patch (3g)
- DERMAdoctor KP Duty Lotion (30ml)
- L’Occitane Almond Shower Oil (35ml)
- Teeez Trend Cosmetics La Isla Chique Perfect Eyes Pencil Brush (1 Brush)
- Yves Roche Grand Rouge Lipstick in Violine Lumineux (Full Size – January Replacement Product)
The Eyeko Hydrogel Eye Patches are quite interesting and I am testing them out literally as we speak (or as I write) and they are quite hydrating and seem to make my tired eyes seem slightly less puffy. I would probably consider using these on those really long days where you come home and lie down on the couch for 30 minutes before getting ready to go out with friends. The DERMAdoctor KP Duty Lotion is really nice for dry hands and it is a non-greasy formula that absorbs into the skin quickly, so this is perfect for the dry winters here – I was going to say long dry winter but I think (knock on wood) that we may actually hit spring in Edmonton early this year! The L’Occitane Almond Shower Oil is waiting to be tested, although I think it sounds pretty neat with the oil turning into a foam once it comes in contact with water. Online reviews seem to indicate that this is a great product so I am excited to try it out. The Teeez Pencil Brush is decent and is made with natural hair – I have a similar brush that I have been using forever that I really like though, so I will just toss this one into my brush kit for the future. And finally the replacement product for my broken cheek stain is the Yves Roche Grand Rouge Lipstick – lipsticks are pretty low on my priority list so while I don’t know if I will use this or just give it away, I can say that the colour (kind of berry shade) is quite nice.
So What Would Argenplath Pay?
Both Topboxes came in at $12.60 and I am pretty happy with them. I had to estimate the price of the Teeez makeup brush since I wasn’t able to find a price, but overall even it I am wrong and it was less than my guess – the total box value is still above what I paid for it. So as usual, the value of the boxes does exceed the amount I paid, which is always a good thing. There was a lot of products I have never tried before despite knowing about the brand as well as a new to me brand with the DERMAdoctor, which I think I will start to look for once I run out of KP duty lotion.
Despite the fact that I am overwhelmed with beauty products (please don’t judge me), I really don’t want to stop my Topbox subscriptions. But sometimes I do think it would be great to be given the option to skip a single box, just so I can catch up on using everything I receive.
