What a beautiful Monday! I think spring has finally arrived although it feels a bit more like summer – I am ok with Winter bouncing right into Summer, provided it does not bounce back to Winter any time soon OR it would be ideal if Winter and Summer mashed up into – oh I don’t know – Spring? Anyways, this week’s colour is an oldie but a goodie, but sadly it isn’t available in stores anymore (sorry – I didn’t realize that until I started writing this post). So what colour have I decided on this week? It’s Sephora OPI’s ‘Mash-Up’ which was part of their Glee collection way back when, hence the lack of availability now. In honour of ‘Mash-Up’, I am going with one of my favorite Glee mash-ups of all time – Survivor/I Will Survive – as my musical song styling for this lovely Mani Monday.
‘Mash-Up’ is a duo-chrome that is mainly silver but reflects either purple or green depending on how the light hits it. This is one of my go-to colours for everything and I do tend to get a lot of compliments on it, everyone I meet seems to love the duo-chrome-y-ness (not a word, I know) of it. The photo above is not the best shot but I like how it shows the purple tone near the top of the bottle and green on the bottom, so you can get an idea of how the polish looks in different light. Unfortunately, it was quite a sunny day when I snapped the following photos for you can’t really see the green layer but mainly the silvery purple.
You can see a significant amount of polish is missing from the bottle, which is a sign that I love it a lot. One of the reasons I tend to use this one is because the formula is quite sheer but it becomes opaque after about 3 coats and as someone who generally does 3 coats of polish, I like that I don’t have to worry about making sure I get lots of excess polish off the brush before each application. Mash Up dries pretty quickly and I seem to be able to put it on and forget about it so it’s great for days when I am in a hurry.
Another reason I love this polish is because it doesn’t show tip wear or chipping until at least day 4, which is absolutely phenomenal. This is perfect for lazy weeks because I can generally leave this on for about a week before a polish change is required.
So What Would Argenplath Pay?
As usual, the Sephora OPI’s are about $12+tax and I don’t mind paying for it when I find a colour I really love. I adore duo-chrome polishes so this one is what I would consider one of my best buys especially when I can get at least a week of wear out of it despite my “tip of the fingernails” typing style.
