Happy New Year! I hope everyone is having a great start to 2013. I am taking a brief departure from my usual posts to look at what’s coming up for me this year. I actually have no idea what’s going to happen in 2013 (but who really does), therefore, I have tentatively dubbed this as the “year of unknowns and life adventures”.
First off, I have finally finished my degree and life as I know it has to start changing – namely the search for a new job is on. I’ve had people ask what I’m looking for and to be honest, I am not sure – I am interested in so many things that all I need is for a certain component of a job to stick out and then I’m writing cover letters and resumes. I am not even wedded to staying in Edmonton, although I will admit, the city has really grown on me these past few years. I remember wanting to hightail it out of here so badly when I was younger and now I’m like “past me – you’re so silly, Edmonton is pretty awesome.”
Secondly, I am planning to work on a new social media project with A. where we are going to podcast our feelings, opinions and random thoughts on movies that we watch. We love movies (well some more than others – you can find out which ones once we get the project rolling), and (I think) we have some great conversations about said movies that are worth sharing. Plus I figure if I write about this here and tell the world that I’m going to be doing this, then I will have committed to it and can be held accountable to the Internet if I don’t do it.
And finally, I could talk about resolutions but I don’t typically do resolutions and there’s no point in changing up my style now. I can say that I am beyond excited to see what 2013 will bring because 2012 was such a great year for me. I met so many wonderful people in 2012 and some truly amazing friends who I feel like I’ve known forever when it’s only been less than a year! I’m so glad I decided to use my long dormant twitter account and start the WWAP blog – these have been such a great catalyst for connecting with people and the city… 2012 also signaled the end of my academic career (for now) and I’ve never been so glad to get out of school and while this degree took longer than anticipated, I don’t regret doing it because (again) of the awesome friends I’ve made.
I am hoping that 2013 will involve a start to an interesting (new) career, travel opportunities, meeting more great people, good food, continued WWAP blogging (increased readership would be nice – I guess?) and life adventure (whatever that may be). My goal (resolution?!) is to make my 2013 even better than 2012 and I plan to do that by rolling with unknowns and embracing the adventures life throws my way.
May your 2013 be filled with adventure, happiness and joy!
