Williams-Sonoma finally opened up an Edmonton location in West Edmonton Mall on Saturday, September 22! I was lucky enough to be invited to get a sneak peek a few days before the grand opening. I am a huge lover of kitchen gadgets and whenever I am in Calgary, heading to the Williams-Sonoma in Chinook mall is a must, so I am beyond delighted that we finally have one 15 minutes away! I had a great time with a bunch of Edmonton’s awesomest bloggers oohing and aahing over everything in the store. I think there were a lot of wish lists being made on the spot and there was definitely disappointment that the tills were not up and running just yet.
Obviously, I am a bit late mentioning this but there are several demos and tastings going on during the grand opening weekend (there is still today), so if you have some (or a lot of) time – just pop down to West Edmonton Mall and visit Williams-Sonoma on the second floor across from the Apple store (closest entrance is entrance #9). In the near future, the store will also offer technique classes such as knife skills and other fun events, so keep an eye out on the website for more details.
When we arrived on Thursday evening, we were greeted with some delicious treats and led on a guided tour of the store. The spiced pecan pumpkin quick bread was very good but the pies and beautiful pie plates definitely caught my eye! I just need to learn how to make pie crust or better yet convince A. that baking pie with awesome crust cutters and pie plates is a good idea.
Williams-Sonoma had some gorgeous Fall displays up – right in time for the holidays. If I hosted my own Thanksgiving dinner, I would be very tempted to buy these adorable pumpkin bowls and possibly the rest of the place setting as well.
If you’re like me and not hosting Thanksgiving, you could consider buying your hostess this lovely little apron (available in an assortment of colours) because who doesn’t love a nice apron? Of course that is not to say you couldn’t buy one of these for yourself too!
During one of my cleaning sprees, I learned that I am a chronic cookbook buyer and have tons of cookbooks hanging around so this section (and the even greater online selection) is going to be very dangerous for me. I already see one or two books that I want on my shelf!
Williams-Sonoma also has a fun selection of bakeware like these Marvel cakelet pans – which I want to buy just because.
And after a tour of all that Williams-Sonoma has to offer – I have decided that this beautiful hammered wok is at the very top of my wishlist… I seriously covet this like no other and will probably be stopping in to pick it up very soon!
I’ve only highlighted a few things that I particularly love (well I really do love the entire store) but I think it is definitely worth a trip over to take a peek at some of the other wonderful items like the Le Creuset collection, knife displays, and holiday items.

Right? A field trip definitely in the cards… There is a wok with my name on it (well once Argenplath Mama declares it to be acceptable – after all what do I know about woks?)
